Mei Wei Dumplings
Our dumpling-loving friends down south frequently rave to us about the artfully crafted goodies at Mei Wei Dumplings at The Star Gold Coast. Now Brisbane diners can savour the delights ourselves – Mei Wei Dumplings has expanded to Treasury Brisbane. Taking over the subterranean space that once housed casual-dining venue Bite (accessed directly from George Street), Mei Wei Dumplings fuses far-Eastern aesthetics with the heritage aspects of its Treasury home. Mei Wei’s executive chef Song Yao Su has transported the concept’s back-to-basics philosophy of hawker-style Cantonese fare to the new location, crafting a menu of Mei Wei favourites (soup-filled xiao long bao, wok-seared pork with hokkein noodles, rice congee) and some new signature dishes to boot (Singapore chilli mud crab, steamed scallops with vermicelli and black-bean sauce). When it comes to drinks, Mei Wei will serve a range of bubble teas, plus a selection of soju, wine and beer.
