Inner-city coffee cravers are very familiar with Marchetti. The beloved Italian-inspired cafe and coffee nook is a popular respite in its home within the Tattersall’s Arcade, but now those living and working further from the Queen Street Mall can now get Marchetti’s top-notch fare at its second Brisbane City location. Marchetti 545 resides at the base of 545 Queen Street – a building currently undergoing some significant improvements. The Marchetti team was approached to install a new concept at the base of the building, and were swayed to sign on after glimpsing the inspired architectural designs made by Stephen Cameron – the designer of Marchetti’s first location. A central coffee bar and kitchen is surrounded by a spacious seating arrangement and stylishly appointed booths, imbued with a classic Italian style that will be familiar to long-time Marchetti fans. As Marchetti 545 is perfectly positioned to cater to a new set to clientele, the offering will undergo continuous growth – incorporating new items and more experimental dishes. Coffee from Allpress remains a core focus as always, as well as a full liquor service delivering Marchetti’s signature aperitivo cocktails, wines and beers. The food offering encompasses light grab-and-go sandwiches and pastries as well as hearty sit-down fare. Breakfast bites such as tomato, rocket and asiago omelettes, bruschetta, and avocado toast shares menu space with favourites such as veal meatballs, lasagne ragu and burrata pistachio insalata. The coming weeks will see an expanded salad option added, alongside new green, berry and peanut-butter smoothies for an extra energy hit.
