The team behind esteemed restaurant Malt Dining and the Malt Traders bottleshops in Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley has opened a more relaxed cafe-bistro in Newstead. Perched under the South tower of Mirvac’s Waterfront development, Malt Pier offers bar seating and a smattering of spotted gum tables with water views. A selection of Malt Dining classics have been brought to the Malt Pier menu, including the famous hereford eye fillet steak sandwich with gruyere, tomato and Malt’s special sauce on levain, the braised beef cheeks with creamy mash, roast mushrooms and fresh horseradish, and of course the signature brownie dessert with salted caramel and hazelnut brittle. Cast an eye over the weekly blackboard specials, grab a pastry from the cabinet or settle in for a more leisurely feast.
