Lonely’s Bar on Montague Road in West End is a multifaceted hub that dispenses specialty coffee and also supports local creatives. Set within a refurbished warehouse space, the venue features a host of furniture fashioned out of reclaimed materials – including a central coffee counter and several banquette booths wrought from recycled materials. The coffee bar serves a variety of espresso and filter brews from a rotating roster of Australian roasters, including Melbourne’s Proud Mary, Northgate’s Passport Specialty Coffee and Narangba’s Cavalier Coffee Roaster. Peckish patrons can chomp on a concise selection of freshly baked treats from Mica Brasserie. Eventually Lonely’s will look to expand into the afternoon and evenings, adding tapas and booze to the offering, keeping the focus on simple and fresh bites. In addition to displaying local art on the walls, Lonely’s also plays host to live music from local collectives, while DJs will pop in every Sunday morning to spin tunes while guests sip brews.
