Lefty’s Music Hall

After a change of ownership, storied bar Lefty’s Music Hall reopened to the public in February 2020 under the control of Hallmark Group Australia. The group, which boasts a hospitality portfolio including Irish pub Finn McCool’sRetro’s Cocktail Lounge and Jamie’s Italian has kept the much-loved vintage honky-tonk atmosphere and live-music focus, reigniting the Caxton Street strip with Lefty’s signature style of hospitality. The venue operates from Thursday to Saturday, with the saloon’s famed interiors (think black-leather booths, vintage chandeliers, scarlet walls, giant gilt mirrors and opulent curved bar) remaining untouched, with three bars – the dance hall, Mermaid Lounge and Cactus Bar – stocked with various libations. When it comes to the food, the Lefty’s kitchen is sticking to its Americana roots, cooking up a range of bar-appropriate eats – we’re talking cheeseburgers, buffalo wings, hot dogs, loaded fries and the new cheeseburger spring rolls made using top-grade Angus mince. Geoff Trio of Code One has been enlisted as Lefty’s Music Hall’s booking agent, curating a calendar of free and ticketed gigs from local and international rockabilly, blues and roots, jazz and country acts.
