In October 2020, popular Milton-born eatery La Stazione Pizzeria and Bar expanded to Woolloongabba, opening its second location at the base of Trafalgar Lane. Known for its warm approach to hospitality and menu that offers a modernised take on authentic Italian favourites, La Stazione is a worthwhile spot for Italian purists and fans of out-of-the-box interpretations. Snacks like salt-and-pepper squid, crumbed macaroni-and-cheese croquettes and velvety burrata make for a great starting point for any feast. The pizza menu features 10 and 14-inch options, including traditional varieties like the diavola, tartufo ) and the salsiccia e patate, while Australian-inspired riffs like the BBQ chicken, meat lovers and ham-and-pineapple pizzas are also highly recommended. La Stazione’s pasta and risotto selection offers plenty of variety, too – think beef-cheek ragu fettuccine, seafood-loaded spaghetti marinara, baked gnocchi with mozarella and parmesan, and risotto with asparagus and provolone. La Stazione’s mains (eye-fillet steaks, fish of the day bathed in white wine and caper sauce, and veal scallopini) are worth saving room for, as is the Nutella pizza – a truly decedent finisher. In true Italian style, the eatery’s drinks list includes everything from aperitifs (Aperol spritz, Americanos and Campari sodas) and cocktails to beers, ciders and an extensive array of Italian, Australian and French wines available by the glass and bottle.
