Since its humble beginnings as a local gelataria in the heart of Teneriffe, La Macelleria has experienced a huge boom in popularity across Brisbane. After expanding to include outlets in West End and Coorparoo, owner Matteo Zini has looped back toward the inner city, opening a fresh location on popular Bowen Hills promenade King Street. La Macelleria’s Bowen Hills location harks back to Matteo’s beginnings, featuring a replica of the original neon sign found in Matteo’s first gelato store in Bologna – the world capital of gelato. Although there’s an element of the past here, the range of flavours on offer is decidedly modern, with La Macelleria’s extensive range offering something for all tastes.
