Knowhere

Ready to set off on the road to Knowhere? This hidden gem is tucked away in Spring Hill on the corner of Upper Edward Street and Astor Terrace, promising to transport diners to dream-like world upon entering. The venue’s striking aesthetic design has been led by designer Chris Schneider in collaboration with Stuart Howard and Ben Milne of Brave Folk, inspired by the works of Alexander McQueen and Salvador Dalí. Inside the other-worldly space you’ll be wining and dining amongst an eclectic mix of oddities – think martini-sipping flamingos, floating elephants and astronauts straight out of the cosmos. Ex-Baja and Sirromet chef Marty Coard is at the kitchen’s helm, serving up modern Australian dishes crafted from hyper-seasonal local produce, featuring house-made dry-aged, smoked and charcuterie meats. Highlights include Magra lamb ribs with charred spring-onion cream, 250-g dry-aged smoked rump, 350-g Berkshire pork T-bone and dry-aged duck breast with lacto blueberry mole. The street-facing coffee window slings caffeine from Reverence Coffee Roasters, herbal teas, house-made chai, jaffles and banh mi. Overseeing libations is head bartender Joel Gough, who has curated a menu featuring exclusively Australian house spirits, independently sourced craft beers and bespoke cocktails.
