Jessie’s Girl

It’s not just a killer song by Rick Springfield (although let’s take a few moments to listen to it again) – Jessie’s Girl is also the name of the latest venture from Scout’s Suse Whitehouse and Candy Smith. Jessie’s Girl is a markedly different venue from Scout – it’s a neighbourhood bar and eatery just a short stroll down Petrie Terrace from its cafe sibling, in the space formerly occupied by Hops Scotch & Beans. Suse and Candy have created a menu of European-inspired share plates, offering up morsels such as steak tartare, pork belly rillettes toasties, pipis with speck, eggplant Sicilian caponata with burrata and almond pesto, while the bar offers four kinds of spritz, cocktails, craft beer and a curated selection of wines to sip. The coming months will see a brunch service implemented and street-side dining.
