When Electric Avenue opened in Woolloongabba in the first half of 2017, it came with the promise that there were a few secrets that patrons were encouraged to uncover. The largest of the building’s secrets comes in the form of Mrs J. Rabbits – a Narnia-themed hidden speakeasy that sits on the upper level of Electric Avenue’s building. Up the stairs and around the bend is a magical wardrobe that acts as the entrance to the cosy and eclectically decorated bar, which boasts comfortable vintage furniture, mood lighting and plenty of intriguing antique memorabilia along the walls. The primary focus of Mrs J. Rabbits is craft cocktails (signatures and elevated classics), fine wines, whisky (more than 200 varieties are available), gins, tonics and botanicals, with a huge (like, seriously impressive) range of quality drops filling the back bar. Peckish patrons can pick at a small range of bar snacks, including smoked almonds, warmed olives, shoestring fried with homemade aioli, chicken pate with Turkish bread, plus cheese and charcuterie boards.
