IKU Post Office Square

Anyone familiar with Japan’s bustling train stations will be intimately familiar with its plethora of tiny noodle bars. Commuters regularly cram into any available spot at countless hole-in-the-wall noodle joints, slurping and savouring piping-hot bowls of goodness before going on their way. Brisbane City’s IKU Noodle Bar is taking cues from these quick-service spots, adding a satisfying and healthy pitstop to Post Office Square’s food court. IKU comes from the family behind Gasworks’ Reef Seafood & Sushi, and allowing diners to build their own noodle bowls from base and soup style, right down to proteins and toppings. Noodle options include soft and chewy udon noodles made with wheat flour and water, gluten-free and protein-filled soba noodles, and calorie- and carbohydrate-free shirataki noodles. If you’re looking to fill the gaps, IKU also has a selection of self-serve sides, ranging from karaage chicken, tempura okura and tempura pumpkin, to rainbow salads, edamame and seaweed salads.
