Happy Boy Fortitude Valley

One of Brisbane’s most beloved Chinese restaurants Happy Boy made some big moves in 2017, when brothers Cameron and Jordan Votan announced a second venue coming to Fortitude Valley. The Fortitude Valley Happy Boy can be found on East Street, and will carries through the restaurant’s contemporary regional Chinese focus, but has expand the offering to include more Asian street bites for snacking, a broader wine list from Cameron’s Spokenwine, and craft beer and Asian lagers on tap. Previously, the restaurant had only dabbled in regional Chinese cuisine, exploring the provinces of Xinjiang, Canton and Sìchuān, but with more space and new equipment (including an impressive new wok burner imported from Hong Kong), the kitchen now has more room to play and experiment with regional dishes and flavours most diners will have never experienced before. From Thursdays to Saturdays, Happy Boy also offers a concise supper club menu from 9:30 pm to midnight, with snacks and simple eats such as fried rice. From Wednesday to Sunday Happy Boy serves up brunch, with modern Australian options prepared using Chinese techniques and flavours, including fruit-topped sago pudding, breakfast baos and wok-fried eggs.
