Fables Bar & Cafe

Fables Bar & Cafe is the Princess Theatre’s own cafe and bar, which is located on the ground floor of the State Heritage building on Annerley Road. The locale aims to cater to locals as much as gig-going patrons, with an all-day offering available from morning until evening. Locals can pop in from 6:30 am onwards for cups of Allpress Espresso and pastries, while a lunch menu offers up a selection of drool-worthy sandwiches to munch on. In the evening the bar starts pouring craft beer (including the Golden Arrow – the Princess Theatre’s own pale ale brewed in conjunction with beer partner Green Beacon), wine from City Winery’s in-house label Gerler and a collection of signature cocktails. In the coming months Fables will expand to include a full breakfast menu, more takeaway lunch options, gig-friendly bar snacks and a special range of Bloody Mary cocktails. Guests can pick a perch inside, along the building’s street-facing outdoor dining space or upstairs in The Gallery – a sun-lit function area that doubles as a public-friendly chill-out zone during the day. Soon, live-music lovers will be able to purchase tickets for upcoming performances from Fables directly.
