Pear Cafe and Bar opens for mess meals and local brews
Highgate Hill morning favourite, Pear Cafe and Bar is now open for drinks and eats of a Thursday to Sunday evening. Offering a meal for the masses, the nightly token Mess Meal is ever changing, delivering lavish, home-style flavours from Pork Chops and Pea and Ham Soup to vegetable lasagne without the pasta.
From the bar menu, try a serving of crispy veggie skins with sriracha hot chilli sauce or deep-fried chicken wings. The hot, silky interior of the fried Camembert is rich and well matched to its accompanying plum sauce, while the spicy meatballs are made the way mum used to.
Supporting local producers, Pear Cafe and Bar stocks an all-Australian wine list, with all grapes available both by the glass and bottle. The beer is sourced from Australia and New Zealand, with full menus from Little Creatures, 4 Pines and Monteiths. Live music and DJs feature on a Friday night, while softer, acoustic sounds permeate the sleepy streets of a Sunday evening.
