The creation of Kylie Johnson, paper boat press imprints poetic pearls of wisdom into handmade ceramics. A ceramist, artist, potter and poet, Kylie has been stamping her own poetry or others’ inspiring quotations into ceramics since 1996. From gift tags and jewellery to bowls and plates, paper boat press brings whimsy to the kitchen or china cabinet. Having pined after an odd-shaped little 1920s-built store in Ashgrove for years, Kylie seized fate with both hands when the suburban building became available. A paint job, new awnings and some paper boat press signage later and the space was transformed into a shop, studio and gallery space for all things handmade with love. Pottery and jewellery artisans are also exhibited in the front gallery space.
