Metro Arts gives a glimpse of 2016’s artistic offerings

The inner-city gallery is gearing up to launch next year’s artistic program, and is inviting guests to have a sneak peek and to gather support for 2016.

Metro Arts has championed innovative and experimental contemporary art since its inception, continuing to push new artists into the limelight through exhibitions and events. Metro Arts is giving the public the chance to preview next year’s artistic offering with a 2016 program launch event taking place on December 8. In order to encourage attendees to step up to support local artistic endeavour, Metro Arts will be installing the names of patrons for a $100 donation. In addition to this fundraising initiative, Metro Arts will also be auctioning original artworks from Metro Arts tenants such as the Archibald Prize finalist Sam Cranstoun, Nick Drake, Chris Lediott and Neil Douglas.

Local artists that will be exhibited in 2016 will be on hand to discuss their work. Artists in attendance include 2016 artist-in-residence Courtney Coombs, independent dance artist Sammie Williams, installation artist Meagen Streader, multi-media creative Joseph Breikers, visual artist Hannah Brontë and performance artist Leah Shelton. Entry is free but RSVP’s are essential. Register your interest at the Metro Arts website.
