Much like the Mos Eisley Cantina, the Death Star Canteen in Brisbane City is a gathering point for all comers – coffee lovers and Star Wars fanatics alike. Based on the iconic comedic sketch by Eddie Izzard, the Death Star Canteen is a warm and inviting cafe that specialises in warm atmosphere, great coffee and tasty takeaway sandwiches. It wouldn’t be a suitable Star Wars cafe without a few touches – Death Star vases sit on every table and Death Star lanterns hang from the ceiling. A Stormtrooper relaxes in a hammock above, and quirky Star Wars imagery lines the walls. Hungry patrons can choose from a concise menu of takeaway sandwiches stuffed with fillings such as olive and lemon tapenade, slow-roasted torn lamb, free-range pulled pork, corned beef, and avocado, tomato and cheddar, complemented by coffee from The Coffee Roasters. Death Star Canteen will look to add more to its food offering in the coming months but to start it’s specialising in simple, tasty offerings made with the best produce available.
