The Criniti story began in 1963 when Cosimo Criniti arrived in Sydney from Calabria. Cosimo’s beloved recipes and a passion for Italian cuisine were subsequently passed down through his family, until Frank Criniti decided to share his family’s culinary history with the world in 2003. Now boasting more then ten locations across Australia, Criniti’s has become a household name for fans of traditional Italian cuisine. A multi-award winner of ‘Australia’s Favourite Italian’ since its inception, Criniti’s has continued to solidify its reputation as a reliable spot to devour authentic Italian dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In 2018 Criniti’s opened at Westfield Chermside, bringing with it its impressive menu of 400 items – with each dish combining Southern Italian tastes with contemporary Australian flair and produce. The cavernous space boasts some opulent touches and nods to the Criniti family heritage – plush booth seats, lavish rugs, exposed brick walls covered in family photos, a bright-red Ducati above the bar and an eye-catching red Ferrari parked in the middle of the restaurant. Fare such as mussel hot pots, slow-braised baby goat, pan-seared veal, burgers and barbecue-grilled meats are just some of the mouth-watering traditional morsels on offer, but fans of the classics can gorge on Criniti’s extensive selection of pasta dishes and wood-fired pizzas (including the gargantuan one, two and three-metre long pizzas). A drinks selection of mocktails, loaded shakes, wines, beers and cocktails make for sublime quaffing material. Set menus and kids menus are also available, as are pizza-making classes and pizza eating challenges.
