The overhaul of Everton Plaza yielded a bevy of phenomenal foodie retailers, but the crown jewel of the precinct is undoubtedly the venues operated by restaurateur Tim Johnson. Latin street-food eatery and cocktail dispensary Comuna Cantina arrived at the hub in September 2-19, unveiling an artfully designed nook at the end of Everton Plaza’s Park Lane. The venue boasts an external kiosk bar, dual-sided kitchen and takeaway coffee window, and an interior dining space featuring a pink-and-white colour scheme accentuated by brass detailing and plenty of greenery. In addition to Comuna Cantina’s established menu of Latin American eats (think grilled sweet corn, quesadillas, burritos and specialty cocktails), the brand’s Everton Park location also serves traditional hard-shell tacos and an exclusive cocktail only available here. Comuna Cantina will host salsa dancing sessions every second Sunday, while DJs will curate the party atmosphere every weekend. The cantina’s opening precedes the arrival of sibling concept Corbett & Claude in November.
