Colour Me Flavour

Half way through 2016 Colour Me Flavour opened its doors on Annerley Road in Woolloongabba, offering a vibrant menu of Indian-inspired cuisine. The space – formerly occupied by Apple Tango – underwent some cosmetic adjustments, with co-owner Nita Tailor adding new copper touches to several elements within the space, plus installing a new mosaic of iconic retro Bollywood films to the rear wall. The retro vibe is juxtaposed with a menu of modern dishes, inspired by the techniques and tastes of India’s westernmost state Gujarat. Vibrancy and colour is embedded in the venue’s approach to its food, with meals plated up with flair and panache. The open-plan kitchen allows patrons to catch a glimpse of their meal in progress – taking in the care used by head chef Eugene Lee for every meal. Colour Me Flavour’s spring menu offers small bites – or inspirations – such as soft shell crab in salted egg vhagar butter, pork belly and carambola salsa and maple syrup chicken wings. Larger plates include lamb neck stuffed with spiced custard, grimaud Muscovy duck and more. A range of authentic Gujarat specials are available in addition to desserts. Gluten-free eaters are encouraged to call ahead so the kitchen can ensure dietary requirements are met.
