Clancy’s Espresso

Pat Inthakun has always wanted to own her own cafe. Over her ten-year career, the hospitality veteran has worked in numerous coffee and breakfast spots, accumulating inspiration and know-how at every stop. The chance to realise her long-held dream finally materialised when she saw an opportunity to take over Clancy’s Espresso in Norman Park – a cosy cafe that has been operating on Wynnum Road since 2017. After purchasing the cafe in early 2023, Pat immediately set about making the space feel like hers, adding loads of lush greenery and decorative pieces to give the venue’s interior a home-like feel. For Pat, Clancy’s customers are more like family than clientele. Regulars are treated like family, with Pat’s infectious personality just as warming as the coffee she serves.

Speaking of coffee, a brand-new coffee machine pumps out silky brew from Bellissimo, which is available alongside milkshakes, frappes, smoothies and iced teas. On the food front, Pat has stepped up the Clancy’s menu with an expanded range of brunch items, infusing the offering with a dash of Asian-fusion flavours – we’re talking satay wraps with succulent chicken breast, slow-cooked beef massaman curry with roasted potatoes and roti, and an Asian bowl loaded with fresh veggies and coated in a sesame dressing. Those with a serious sweet tooth should look to Pat’s pandan twist waffle with coconut ice-cream and the homemade pancakes with grilled banana and choc-cookie crumbles. These specialities join familiar faves like avocado on toast, eggs Benedict and corn fritters, as well as a clutch of bagels – a crowd-favourite staple of the Clancy’s menu that Pat has retained.

Also good to know – Clancy’s is a dog-friendly cafe, so bring your pooch along!
