Brown’s General Store
Brown’s General Store is a positively charming boutique owned and operated by Cate and Nick Gilpin that is adding some conscious shopping to Latrobe Terrace in Paddington. With arts management and information technology backgrounds respectively, these two locals opened Brown’s General Store in August 2017, imbuing it with their shared love of artisan crafts and boutique wares fostered while travelling through America and Japan. Cate and Nick describe Brown’s General Store as a shopping gallery, where customers can browse a wide range of unique items that have been curated and specially selected for their local and ethical properties. All goods at Brown’s General Store are Australian designed, and many support causes that help alleviate suffering and improve quality of life in far corners of the globe. Eschewing mass-produced goods in favour of small-batch items means that Brown’s General Store has a constantly evolving and changing selection of stock. Goods include lovingly crafted ceramics, apparel, accessories, beauty products, kids toys and much more. Cate and Nick will also look to host art exhibitions several times a year, showcasing objects and illustrations from local artists.
