Botellón

Graceville has long been a haven for brunch-hunting early birds, but once the sun sets night owls are bereft of a place to roost. Good news for Graceville’s nocturnal crowd – that all changed in May 2019 when Spanish-inspired wine bar Botellón opened to the public. The bar is owned by Maddison Walker, functions coordinator of popular cafe Hunter and Scout. After the departure of neighbouring eatery Honour Espresso, Maddison jumped at the chance to open a hole-in-the-wall haunt in the vacant corner space. The venue boasts an interior aesthetic of earthy tones, dining inside and street side, a selection of Australian and imported wines, and a menu of tapas-style bites. Diners can expect share plates of crispy eggplant with thyme and truffle honey and twice-cooked octopus in paprika, and mains such as 16-hour lamb belly with smoked eggplant, marinated chicken-thigh paella with fresh La Boqueria chorizo, and a sizeable Stanbroke angus rib fillet with chimichurri and farofa. Early worms can also pop in to Botellón in the morning for a simple breakfast service and barista-poured cups of coffee from Noosa’s First Batch.
