The Lioncrest Group’s latest venture can be found in a prime position at Westfield Chermside’s new dining precinct, holding court at one end of the lush promenade. Bootlegger is its name and authentic American smoked barbecue is its game. The stylish Prohibition-era fit-out evokes a warm and comfortable vibe, with a sizeable bar acting as a congregation point before patrons take a seat inside or outside. The viewing room holds Bootlegger’s pride and joy – a gargantuan two-tower smoker that gives off an aroma that you can smell from the car park. It has been installed to take care of the lion’s share of Bootlegger’s cooking – with enough space to hold more than a day’s trade worth of meat in one go. Bootlegger’s menu is something to behold, with a range of bites suitable for every hunger level. Start with smalls and sides such as crab cakes, cheesy fries, maple-glazed smoked sweet potato and chipotle mac ‘n’ cheese, before gearing up the for the main event. Order steaks from the grill, serves of buttermilk-fried chicken, 14-hour brisket from the smoker, pork ribs, Texas sausage link or a gargantuan platter with a bit of everything. Bootlegger also boasts a range of burgers and hot dogs, plus garden bowls and dessert pies to fill in the gaps. The bar serves a range of Australian craft beers, wines and cocktails, with plenty of top-shelf spirits to choose from as well.
