The crew behind successful liquor store chain The Black Sheep Bottle Shop and South Brisbane’s Peel Street Tavern – Lyal Midgley, Darren Lockyer and Mark Nightingale – have teamed up once more to deliver a modern and convivial watering hole to The Gap. Blind Tiger (Prohibition-era slang for a speakeasy) is the name of the venue, which brings together Lyal, Darren and Mark’s love of good wine, beer and spirits with an Asian-inspired menu of eats. You’ll find Blind Tiger at The Gap Village in the space once occupied by The Coffee Club. The team has transformed the venue into an eye-catching haven, given life through quirky decor and jungle-inspired interiors. Guests will notice immediately that Blind Tiger is taking its quaffing material seriously – the bar is stocked with a selection of boutique spirits (with a focus on gin), craft beers and fine wines. Blind Tiger’s menu kicks off with a tapas-style selection of bites (baos, spring rolls, wings and Peking duck pancakes) before moving into larger options such as pizza, seafood laska, crispy pork belly and pan-fried barramundi.
