Blackwood Cafe & Espresso Bar
Blackwood Street in Mitchelton has turned into a thriving community hub thanks to the arrival of eateries such as Miss Kay’s and the opening of local haunt Blackwood Cafe & Espresso Bar. Hospitality veterans and Blackwood Cafe owners Hayley and Jaimi relocated from Perth to Brisbane with the intention of acting on their dream of opening a cafe, seizing the opportunity to take over the space formerly occupied by Geronimo Jerky. After a quick turnaround at the end of 2016, Blackwood Cafe & Espresso Bar opened to the public in January 2017, drawing in locals in droves with the promise of good food, great coffee and a quirky-yet-welcoming atmosphere. Blackwood Cafe & Espresso Bar offers all-day breakfast and lunch options, Elixir coffee, frappes, smoothies and thick shakes. Popular choices include the Blackwood Frenchie (French toast with maple syrup and bacon), the Haloumi Heaven (stacked haloumi with mushroom and spinach) and three different kinds of pancake stacks (caramel, tropical and traditional). A cabinet is also filled to the brim with treats from Dream Desserts, including a large range of gluten-free varieties. Brunch munchers are encouraged to swing by on the weekend, where live musicians will be bringing the grooves.
