Black Hops Brisbane

There’s was some movement in the local craft-beer scene in 2020, with the sale of East Brisane’s Semi-Pro Brewing Co. to the alchemists at Burleigh Heads-based Black Hops Brewery. After two years building a loyal following at its warm and welcoming home on Manilla Street, the Semi-Pro amalgamated with Black Hops, which has transformed the space into the headquarters for its Brisbane operations. Semi-Pro Brewing owner, founder and brewer Mick Guy remains as the site head brewer for Black Hops Brisbane, while co-owners Siena Perry and Shaun Stubley also remain involved, meaning the same familiar faces are still be the ones dispensing the frothy goodness. The taproom’s bar features 16 taps, almost half of which are dedicated to Black Hops’ core range, which is brewed at the Biggera Waters brewhouse. Mick will oversee the creation of small-batch and seasonal brews, one-off special beers, and collaborative concoctions. Black Hops Brisbane’s bar licence allows it to serve beverages that aren’t made on site, so non-beer drinkers can sip on small-batch spirits from Grandad Jack’s, Husk Distillery and Starward Whisky. Keeping stomachs lined will be a rotating roster of food trucks, which will be slinging street eats every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
