Christmas came early when Bird’s Nest Yakitori & Bar opened its third location a week before the festive period in 2018. With two locations already under their belts in West End and Fortitude Valley, owners Marie Yokoyama and Emi Kamada expanded to Toowong Village with a concept that foregrounded the set-meal lunch trade, which had proved increasingly popular at their other locations. Bird’s Nest On The Run is a cosy 35-seat outpost (designed by acclaimed Japanese designer Katsuya Iwamoto) offering a casual lunchtime service. A selection of rice bowls topped with the likes of karaage chicken, pork belly or grilled vegetables is available, as are a selection of Bird’s Nest’s unique spin on hot dogs and sides, alongside a collection of Japanese beers, sake and wine.
