The Cafer brothers, long-time owners of South Bank’s Greystone Bar & Cellar, decided to shake things up in 2018, pivoting the focus of their established venue to draw upon the diverse offering of Caribbean cuisine. Rebranded and revitalised as Barbossa Bar & Bottle Shop, the brother’s implemented a savvy selection of Caribbean eats, taking inspiration from South America, Barbados and Jamaican cuisines, among others. The menu offers bites including spicy empanadas and buffalo chicken wings to traditional Cuban sandwiches, rum-glazed babecue pork, chickpea curries and fish cutters. Barbossa’s bar is stocked with a range of potable goods, with a sharp edit of barrel-aged rums, spirits, wines and beers on hand to quench thirsts. The cocktail selection is particularly thorough, with an agricole degustation available for those wanting to get hands-on.
