Local wine connoisseur Darren Davis, the man behind Grape Therapy, Cheese Therapy and Darren Davis Wine, added Baedeker to his portfolio in November of 2016. The hybrid venue is situated on Constance Street in Fortitude Valley and has opened its varied segments progressively. The venue earns its name from travel-guide pioneer Karl Baedeker, and resembles the travellers bars of yesteryear thanks to a plethora of vintage decorations and antique furniture. The first stage to open to the public was a small espresso bar and wine retailer, which was followed with an expansive bar and rustic cellar in December of 2016. The first months of 2017 will see Baedeker open an expansive function space and Brisbane’s first champagne garden at the venues rear. Drops from Spain, Italy, France, the United States and more have been sourced to stock the shelves of the bar and retail portion, while a concise beer and spirits offering is also available to drinkers.
