The round-up: Brisbane’s ten best restaurants as voted by you

The past 16 months has seen Brisbane's restaurant scene boom in terms of its profile and standing amongst Australia's major cities. New restaurants opened, and several old favourites underwent significant shake-ups. This meant that the stage was set for the most anticipated EAT/drink Awards in recent memory, and our readers didn't disappoint. The 2019 EAT/drink Awards were some of the most hotly contested in the lifespan of the competition, and our marquee categories naturally drew a lot of attention. After an entire month of voting, the winners and runner-up venues have been announced, but there were many other fine establishments that still received an overwhelming amount of votes. This year we have a brilliant crop of culinary destinations comprising the upper echelon of Brisbane's Best Restaurant vote getters, so we figured we’d acknowledge the cream of the crop and list the ten best restaurants in town, as voted by you!

Each of these newcomers is adding greater depth to the scene, with culinary risk taking being a common thread amongst much of the new wave. During our most recent EAT/drink Awards sponsored by Newstead Brewing Co., we asked our readership (that's you!) to tell us which of these newcomers you considered to be the best of the bunch. We crunched the numbers, and can now reveal Brisbane's ten best new cafes, as decided by The Weekend Edition's discerning readers!

We welcomed a delicious selection of new restaurants, cafes and bars, made our way to some pretty rad events, and basically spent our time soaking up everything that is great about our fine city. We're not ones to dwell on the past, but before we ring in the new year, we thought it only fitting to reflect on the things our readers loved the most in 2016 on The Weekend Edition. Invest in your culinary skills with the Home Comforts recipe book by the world’s 50 best chefs

In the immortal words of Miley, it came into our lives like a wrecking ball and granted she may not have been referencing a global pandemic in her 2013 banger – COVID-19 has hit us all, hard. Hospitality was and continues to be one of the industries hardest hit and even now, as restrictions begin to lift in Queensland, it's a rocky (and long) road to recovery. Sadly, not all have faired as well and venues around the world face an uncertain future. If you are keen to lend a little hand whilst also investing in your culinary prowess, order a digital copy of Home Comforts: simple lockdown recipes from the world's best chef's and bartenders and leave banana bread to the amateurs.

The round-up: here’s a comprehensive list of Brisbane’s best craft-beer breweries

We might be biased, but we reckon Brisbane is one of the best cities in Australia to be a craft-beer lover. The City has seen a huge influx of froth-soaked newcomers over the past decade, to the point that no matter where in Brisbane you live, there's a good chance that there's an independent froth maker serving freshly tapped tipples and cracking community-friendly vibes nearby. To celebrate International Beer Day on Friday August 4, we’ve assembled a list of Brisbane's best craft breweries (assorted, loosely, by location) to help you navigate the city's ever-evolving and ever-growing beery landscape.

The round-up: Brisbane’s best new bars as voted by you

It doesn’t take much to see that Brisbane’s bar scene is going great guns this year – the city’s major hubs are thriving with new arrivals. Although we will always have a soft spot for our local, when it comes to weekend drinks we like to try somewhere new. When we need a tip for a new spot to check out, we ask our pals – that’s you. We pitched it to our readers to tell us what new bars they thought were the best of the year in our last EAT/drink Awards, and you didn’t let us down. We’ve put together ten of the best new watering holes worth investigating, as decided by you!
