The Burleigh Common
The former mechanic on Lower West Burleigh Road has been given a new lease on life as The Burleigh Common, a community and creative space where you can work, drink coffee, eat street food and browse local talent all in one handy locale. The multi-faceted venue is the brainchild of Christian and Sandra Vaughan, who you may recognise from of Baracca, and features a rotating roster of food trucks, Blackboard coffee, cold drinks and cakes to keep you nourished and caffeinated while you work. The main area is filled with communal shabby-chic dining tables so you can pull up a seat and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi, just be warned everything is for sale, even the chairs. The space is decked out with a miscellaneous collection of wares from local businesses, from art through to apparel and furniture. The rationale is to give local designers and makers a platform to showcase their works to the public during the week (rather than just at weekend markets) so you can expect constant ‘pop-ups’ from local brands. The Burleigh Common will also act as an events space and is available for hire as well. If you’re tired of staring at the same four walls, pack up your laptop and park yourself at The Burleigh Common for the day.
