If you find deep, soul-satisfying comfort in sinking your teeth in to a ridiculously soft Japanese milk bun, feeling the crunch of crisp lettuce and the gooey goodness of melted cheese on top of a primo patty, Smashed Burgers Australia is for you. The venue itself is nothing more than a shopfront in Niecon Plaza in Broadbeach so don’t go expecting a fancy fit-out and fine china but what it lacks in creature comforts it more than makes up for when it comes to taste. Emerging from the kitchen are fat stacks of happiness loaded with fresh ground Australian beef, oozy American cheese, salad and smothered in your choice of house-made sauce, similar in style to America’s Shake Shak and In-N-Out. The diner-style menu is essentially the same beef burger with two, three or four patties. Not a fan of meat? The Shroom burg is definitely no consolation prize. Tip, if you’re in the mood for a little something extra, take a peek at the secret menu, which offers some seriously drool-worthy concoctions such as the Homer’s BBBBBBQ, which is piled high with two beef patties, two slices of crispy bacon, American cheese and smothered in chipotle BBQ sauce. If you’re on struggle street, the Hangover Fries with beef, bacon, cheese, avocado and jalapenos will make you feel human again and if you’re not fond of pants, Smashed Burgers Australia is on Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Smashed Burgers Australia is the latest venture from business partners Tim Glasson and Gavin McDougal, who you might recognise from Aloha Bar & Dining, so you know you’re in for a treat.
