Silipo Kitchen is the definition of an unassuming hidden gem. Nestled at the end of an industrial corridor in Southport, Silipo has been roasting its award-winning coffee on the premises since 2006 but after continuous requests from customers, has recently expanded to now offer a full breakfast and lunch menu. The constant stream of people in and out is the first indication of its popularity and one glimpse inside and you’ll quickly appreciate why. The display cabinet is brimming with deliciousness from freshly made salads, chia pods and sambos through to devilishly naughty treats including sugar-encrusted doughnuts that are still warm from the fryer, muffins and tasty tarts. If time is on your side, take a seat and tuck into a bacon and egg brioche roll, eggs benne or perhaps the cheekily named Terzetto (roughly translating to ‘threesome’ in Italian), which features avocado smash, beetroot hummus and pumpkin puree topped with Persian fetta and pepitas on toasted rye. Everything, including the bread and baked goods, are made in-house by the passionate crew. As for something to drink, well, you wouldn’t go to a chocolate factory without sampling the chocolate so a cup (or two) of Silipo’s multi award-winning coffee is a must.
