If you’re the carnivorous type, Meat & Co in Broadbeach will curb your cravings with slabs of steak, ribs, chicken wings and skewered meats, which are marinated and slowly basted in secret sauces while being cooked to perfection over a South African-style open-flame grill. Start with the barbecued chicken wings or the  traditional boerewors (South African sausage), then choose your favourites from the selection of meaty mains and toothsome share platters. There’s half and full racks of saucy ribs, half or whole grilled chickens served with salad and chips, and juicy burgers (using basted beef patties) to wrap your mitts around. Steak lovers can select from premium cuts like Black Onyx rump, Jack’s Creek Wagyu Striploin, and a mammoth 1-kg Cape Grim tomahawk, which all arrive with your choice of chips, salad or roasted potatoes. Can’t decide? Go for one of the feasting platters – you’ll get a taste of everything, along with sides and housemade sauces. Meat & Co also retails its steaks, so if you’re barbecuing at home, drop in and grab your favourite cut from the butcher’s display at the rear of the restaurant. The menu is complemented by a wine list of mostly South African drops, as well as a collection of seasonal cocktails – Meat & Co’s signature barrel-aged old fashioned is a good place to start.
