Great British Fryer
Replicating the award-winning formula of its flagship shop in Helensvale, Great British Fryer has ventured south to Burleigh Waters to treat Treetops locals to traditional British-style fish and chips. Here, every day is fry-day with battered and deep-fried everything from haggis and black pudding through to the quirkier menu additions such as deep-fried pizza and even Mars bars. If you’re not feeling quite as adventurous, opt for the good ol’ faithful fish and chips. Unlike regular Australian fish and chipperies, the fish hails from the deep, icy waters of the North Atlantic ocean and the chips are handmade fresh from actual potatoes (not frozen) and thus are intentionally a little soggier than you might be used to (here’s a tip, if you prefer a crispier chip, just ask them to double dip your batch). Great British Fryer also dishes up some tasty pies and simple home-style burgers that are loaded with flavour, not unnecessary pomp. If you are seriously starving, there’s a Mega Burger, which consists of three beef patties, three layers of cheese, salad and three crispy onion rings stacked high, and we mean H.I.G.H. So high, in fact, it has to be secured with a kebab stick through the middle.
