Ginger Root Cafe is one of Tweed Heads’ front runners for best cafe in the sleepy town. The cafe opens up into an impressive space, with plenty of seating, whether it be inside in the cosy chairs or al fresco, surrounded by hanging fronds and flowers. It boasts a large menu, with favourites including the salmon cakes, haloumi special and the traditional eggs benedict. It’s a good idea to get in early, however, as the place is often packed with hungry locals, who say it’s the one of the best breakfasts in town. If you’re in the area and are craving a good coffee, Ginger Root is also a great place to find a delicious coffee, which owner Alina says is meticulously brewed to perfection for her loyal customers.
