Fu Manchu Oriental Kitchen

After devouring more than their fair share of Asian food and cocktails over the years, Troy Hamilton and his partner Holly Steedman knew they wanted to open an Asian fusion restaurant on the Gold Coast. Fast-forward a few years and the pair, along with Troy’s sister Zuraya Hamilton, has just opened Fu Manchu Oriental Kitchen on Chevron Island. Enchanting and exciting, the restaurant is inspired by the back-alley laneway bars in SoHo Hong Kong and is unlike anything else on the Gold Coast. The menu steers away from your traditional entree and main in favour of share plates that are designed to encourage interaction. A plate of the venue’s specialty Singapore Chilli Crab featuring locally caught crab fresh off the trawler is definitely a must. For meat-free and gluten-free friends, rather than being relegated to just a couple of simple sides, Fu Manchu has an entire section of the menu dedicated to plant-based plates.
