Frigg


After outgrowing its previous home in Chirn Park, Frigg cafe has ventured into Labrador and now occupies the former Sushi Train on the Gold Coast Highway. In just five weeks, owners Toula Scott and Maria Elita have transformed the space into a friendly neighbourhood locale that dishes up tasty homestyle food and some seriously good Fonzie Abbott coffee. The nosh isn’t unnecessarily complicated and you won’t find anything garnished with edible flowers, rather it’s simple but delicious home cooking with a nod to the twins’ Greek heritage. Frigg’s all-day breakfast menu offers all of your morning classics including acai bowls, smashed avo and eggs benny made with love alongside a few popular additions including the flourless protein pancakes that are topped with fresh fruit and maple syrup. For lunch, the Greek spaghetti pie and the Athena haloumi stack are undoubtedly the standouts. Both the breakfast and lunch menus are available all day so if you fancy pie for breakfast or eggs for lunch, that’s totally fine. There is also a ‘secret menu’ which offers the same meals just smaller portions for those with reduced appetites. If the sun is shining, venture outside to the timber deck and enjoy your meal alfresco. Named after the Nordic domestic goddess (not the cheeky cuss), Frigg means beloved, which is fitting really.
