There’s something to be said for a restaurant that has continued to operate successfully for nearly 30 years – Donto Sapporo is one of those, a true testament to the venue’s enduring popularity. Though, in October 2019 it was forced to relocate. A new incarnation of Donto Sapporo has opened at The Sorrento Shopping Village – and regulars can rest assured that the same authentic fair that the iconic Japanese restaurant has become renowned for over the past three decades still remains. The chefs hail from Japan and specialise in traditional Japanese cuisine, from silky sashimi and crispy karaage through to larger plates of wagyu beef strips stir fried with garlic teriyaki sauce. If it all sounds too delicious and you can’t decide, opt for the five-course set menu, which offers a little taste of the house favourites including Chawanmushi (egg custard), sashimi, miso soup, rice and your choice of main. Wash it down with one of the venue’s premium Japanese malts on tap or take a peek at the wine list. If you’ve always wanted to eat and drink your way around Japan but haven’t quite made it, Donto Sapporo is the next best thing.
