Devocean
When the rumour mill began chattering that LAME board store in Currumbin was closing, long-time locals Nigel and Liz Milnes couldn’t bear the thought of losing their favourite coffee spot, so they did what any dedicated coffee lovers would do, they took over the lease and opened Devocean. The matte black shell has been replaced with white and recycled timber but the coffee, the staff and the chilled vibe remains the same. The brews are by Burleigh’s Social Espresso and if you’re not into regular cow’s milk, you can enjoy almond, coconut, rice and soy mylk at no extra cost. Beyond excellent coffee, Devocean’s shelves are stocked with a selection of wares from Amuse Society, Rhythm, Vissla and Captain Fin Co alongside handmade necklaces from local label Turquoise Temple as well as Nigel and Liz’s own Pacific Pillow Co. Stunning beach scenes from local photographer Malcolm x Beechey adorn the walls but nothing beats the incredible view of Currumbin beach from the stools at the front.
