Brush & Barrel

Do you list drinking wine and painting as two of your favourite things? Excellent! Then we’re willing to go out on a limb and suggest you’ll love Brush & Barrel in Surfers Paradise. Revolutionising the concept of tranquil, hushed art studios from days past, the new sip and paint studio invites you to paint, laugh and sing till your heart’s content, all whilst getting a little merry over a glass of vino. Whether you’re a budding artist or closer to a scribbling toddler, Brush & Barrel is proof that it’s not so much about the destination but the journey itself. The studio is the second for owners Jimmy Truong and Matthew Dewacht, who also own Brush & Barrel in Paddington in Brisbane, and was established after they attended a friend’s birthday party in a painting studio. The gents loved the idea of bringing people together over a glass of wine but also the concept of embracing and unleashing your inner creativity, the rest, as they say, is history. Rather than just being left to your own devices, each night there is a new feature painting to recreate, which you can take a peek at online ahead of time and the studio’s clever instructor will be on hand to guide you (and make sure you don’t make a complete mess of things). If you believe that trivia and karaoke are so yesterday, raise your glass to a new kind of night out at Brush & Barrel.
