Blowfish Ocean Grill + Bar
Just in time for summer, the owners of Broadbeach’s longstanding Moo Moo The Wine Bar + Grill have opened the doors to a sensational seafood restaurant called Blowfish Ocean Grill + Bar. The impressive double-storey venue seats 150 across a range of dining spaces, from those seeking a perch for a beer and a snack on the terrace to those embarking on a culinary journey in the 24-seat private dining room upstairs affectionately called the ‘Ripple Room’. Designed and created by Zero 9 alongside Space Cubed Design Studio, the $3-million venue features two drastically different themes – the lower level is light and bright, imbued with soft natural textures and turquoise, while upstairs, the vibe is dark, moody and sexy. As for the menu, executive chef Trent Robson, who oversees both Moo Moo restaurants as well as the catering arm, says the selection will change regularly depending on what the team can get from their suppliers. Some of the mainstay highlights will include the venue’s signature Moreton Bay bug rolls, caviar bumps, a fresh oyster and sashimi bar, and of course, a show-stopping seafood tower. Trent also tells us some of the classics will be given a fresh take at Blowfish, with dishes like the prawn cocktail dressed tableside for a little extra drama. In addition to seafood, diners will also be able to enjoy a selection of non-seafood mains including a selection of steak from sister restaurant Moo Moo The Wine Bar + Grill. Accompanying the fare is an extensive wine list boasting over 320 premium hand-picked wines.
