Sustainable surfing – hang ten in style with colourful surfwear by Tall Poppy Surf

In the wild world of swimwear and fashionable surfwear, it’s brands with a genuine personality that stand out. Brands like Tall Poppy Surf. These sustainable and ethical pieces, which are handmade in the Sunshine Coast, are putting a refreshing vintage spin on women’s surfwear. Ladies, it’s time to bring a little more sass to your morning paddle.

Tall Poppy Surf is the brainchild of talented designer Poppy Kaalund, who handmakes each individual surf/swim piece from her studio on the Sunshine Coast. Poppy weaves a dash of vintage style into modern silhouettes, with each piece designed to wear in all conditions. No matter if you slide on cruisy point breaks or tackle heavy surf, the Tall Poppy range will (quite literally) have you covered.

The pieces are created with technologically advanced sustainable lycra that’s formulated with regenerated nylons and polyester fibre from post-consumer waste such as carpets, clothing and fishing nets – yep, it’s totally eco-friendly. Plus, this fancy advanced lycra has a UPF rating of 50+ and is more chlorine resistant than most generic swimwear fabrics. You can find Tall Poppy locally at the Sustainable Surf Collab in Cooly, occasionally at The Village Markets (follow her on Instagram for movements) and, of course, online. Get on this, lady sliders.
