High-five the environment with La Luna Rose’s new plant-based clothing collection

Sustainable jewellery brand La Luna Rose, well know for its dreamy designs and closed-loop manufacturing system that eliminate wastes and utilises unused materials, has made a fashionable step into the clothing realm with a newly launched plant-based capsule collection.

La Luna Rose’s first-ever clothing series, named Island Store, features wardrobe staples like lightweight shirts, tees, towels, sandals, clutches and oversized tote bags. The brand’s founder and designer Rosie Shelton has incorporated tropical prints and vibrant colours of desert ginger, ‘deep beet’ and indigo into the collection – hues that are achieved through natural and traditional plant-based dying. Basically, the hands-on eco-dying process sees colourants derived from a range of tree leaves, which are harvested, dried, mulched and cooked to create a ‘syrup’ of dye to colour fabrics like ramie and linen.

Ensuring the small-scale-production ethos of La Luna Rose’s jewellery range is emulated across its clothing collection, Rosie Shelton has worked intimately with a team in Bali to produce and dye the pieces, so that the bright, bold and high-quality collection of summer essentials was brought to life by ethical means at the hands of talented artisans. Island Store by La Luna Rose is available online now.
