Missing your mates? Have a virtual shindig with video-chat app Houseparty

With the majority of society now self-isolating, missing the social interaction component of our usual communal activities like brunch catch-ups, after-work drinks and game night shenanigans is more than understandable. Enter Houseparty, the self-distancing approved video-chat app that lets you have a virtual party with up to eight of your mates.

Pegged as the simple-to-use tool to keep us social (and sane) during self isolation, Houseparty is the face-to-face video-chat network where you can connect with the people you care about most. Unlike other social-networking apps, Houseparty allows you to come in and out of the chat rooms as you please (rather than having to make a call), alerting your friends when you’re in the app and ready to talk – and vice-versa. In terms of aesthetic, the app breaks the screen into separate chat boxes for each party goer ala The Brady Brunch, so you can see all your friend’s faces at once.

For those who are desperately missing game night, you can also play games such as Heads Up!, trivia and quick draw with your quarantine buddies on the app. Want to be crowned the host with the most? Houseparty is available to download on iOS, Android, macOS and Chrome. Start chatting by downloading the app here.
