Relive the bygone eras of surfing on a Harvest surfboard

Jack Knight is from a dying breed of shapers. He began his career in an era filled with single fins and experimental designs and now, with 45-years shaping behind him, Jack and his son Aaron are keeping the art of surfboard making alive through Harvest surfboards.

Emphasising quality over quantity, Harvest handcrafts a range of bespoke vintage-inspired boards that celebrate surfing as a leisurely pastime rather than a competitive sport. Harvest’s single fins, twin fins, mid-lengths and logs are tailored to suit a more graceful style of surfing and take you back to a time when the shorts were short and the carves were long and drawn out. The brand’s hallmark shape is a channel bottom single fin that Jack learnt to shape from Jim Pollard, the board’s original inventor, in a Manly surfboard factory in the 1970s. The channelled bottom acts as an accelerator to give you speed and lift and pulls you through turns.

In stark contrast to mass-produced high performance boards that will breakdown after only a few years, Harvest boards are all handcrafted from start to finish and are built to stand the test of time. The lads are also fairly fond of using tints, pigments and fabrics to further individualise each board for its rider. Harvest may not be the cheapest boards on the beach but the end result is a functional piece of art that is crafted by hand especially for you.
