Carve the pavement with Gold Coast Long Boards
A shared love of skating and minimalist design led Leigh Warner and his partner Stephanie Newbold to put pencil to paper and sketch out the first designs for Gold Coast Long Boards. Within a few weeks of its release, the first batch of boards has almost completely sold-out.
While some decks are brimming with bold, eye-catching graphics and cost a bomb, Gold Coast Long Boards has gone the other way and created a range of beautifully minimalist skateboards that won’t break the bank. The decks are designed in Leigh’s garage in Labrador and extensively tried and tested on Gold Coast roads and ramps before being put into production. The boards feature a clear grip to showcase the stunning cedar wood, a simple logo and the choice between pastel pink, blue, green and black wheels, nothing more, nothing less.
The first batch of cruisers popped up in cafes and barbershops around the Gold Coast three weeks ago and has so far been incredibly well-received by the local skating community, so much so that Leigh has had to bring forward the second release that will feature a longboard design. Keep an eye on Gold Coast Long Boards’ Facebook page or pop in to Caffeine Kings, Burleigh Social or Barber Bros & Co to get your hands on one. Even if you’re not an avid skater, the pretty boards look just as neat perched on a shelf as they do under your feet.
