Futuristic hydration – EQUA uses smart technology to get you drinking water
Staying hydrated is a daily battle. We all start the morning with the best intentions of keeping our body’s water content at optimum levels, but more often than not we get distracted by work, funny dog memes and general daily hustle that we just flat-out forget to fill up our bottles and drink. Luckily a genius water bottle called EQUA is here to help us keep hydrated with the help of a little thing called technology.
Okay, here’s the deal. EQUA is a smart water bottle, which has recently launched on Kickstarter and is designed to provide hydration guidance and promote healthy habits. Basically, the bottle monitors your water intake and reminds you when it’s time to take a sip of water by lighting up with a subtle glow. The bottle, or ‘smart hydration assistant’ as it’s known, connects with the EQUA app, which develops a personalised hydration program with your recommended daily water intake based on your personal characteristics and lifestyle.
The bottle’s visual reminders change in frequency and intensity, ensuring that you both drink enough water and spread your water consumption regularly throughout the day. If you’re not sure whether you’re keeping up with your daily hydration goal, then a gentle tap on the bottle will reveal how well you are doing without the need to check your phone. The minimalist 680-ml stainless-steel bottles, which come in white, rose and dark grey, were created after more than eight years of research into the hydration habits of everyday Australians.
