Concrete Lines rolls into Coolangatta

Skateboarder’s nirvana, Concrete Lines, has moved from its Tweed location into expansive new digs on Griffith Street in Coolangatta. Les and the crew opened the huge Rosewood doors late last week to the delight of skaters near and far.

From the original wooden boxes with roller skate wheels slapped on the bottom cruising around California in the 1950s to the little pocket rockets that the kids are kicking around on today, skateboarding sure has come a long way. If you dabble in the occasional roll or are a lifelong devotee, you’re going to love Concrete Lines’ new space. The store is a shrine to street-surfing with a stellar range of skateboards, longboards, clothing, shoes and accessories.

‘You don’t quit skating because you get old, you get old because you quit skating’ is etched on the far wall as a tribute to the late great American skater, Jay Adams. Everything from the four-metre high rack that holds more decks than you care to count to the hardware that is encased in the salvaged timber cabinetry reflects owner Les’ lifelong passion and dedication to the past-time. With more than 100 brands bustling for your attention including OBfive, Primitive Skateboarding, Etaks (which is skate backwards) and Plan B, you may very well be here a while. Take a peek at Concrete Lines online or pop in and take a look at the new digs at The Strand Coolangatta.
